Nitta Hide'aki, Baritone Vocalist Born in 1947. Graduated Tokyo University of Arts in 1971. Majored in vocal classic music. Right after the college he helped establish an opera group working on original/ creative music and participated himself in it. He and the group took up mainly the masterpieces of a composer, Hikaru Hayashi, and went on a barn storming tour around the whole country until 1981. He had gone through as many as 1,800 stages before he left the group. Having left the group, he chose the Kansai District, especially Kobe, one of Japan's most internationalized cities, as a hub for his music activities. At the outset after his move to Kobe, he started to join in various kinds of concerts, be it opera, oratorio, and other genre of classic music. He is also devoted to several chorus groups as a conductor. In 1989, he made his debut on the stage of Sweden. His performance was well-received by the audience. Thereafter he has been continuously, or almost every year, invited to the country. In 1998, he made a first appearance on a German stage, too. There he sang the whole chapters of Winterreise, which was also of good repute among German listeners. The next year, or in 1999, he visited Germany again to perform Schumann's Dichterliebe (Poems by Heinrich Heine) and others. Not only that but he produced his CD titled Winterreise in Deutschland! Now it is for sale. In 1989, the year of his debut in Sweden, he got acquainted with Mr. Otto Freudenthal , a noted pianist. Later, a German mandolin player, Mr. Detlef Tewes joined in the two. They have been a perfect trio group ever since. Incidentally, Otto is, so to speak, a comprehensive instrument player, who can not only play the piano, but also cembalo, viola, and trumpet. Especially as a piano accompanist, Otto shows his superb expertise and a sense of harmony with his co-players. His performance makes his fellow players feel comfortable and confident in a way that they can bring out the highest level of their performing skills. As for Mr. Tewes, his audience have, with no objections, praised his techniques, saying they had never expected that a single mandolin sounds this gorgeous! For their tentative plans, the three are scheduled to play in Germany in March and in Japan in October, 2001.
Nitta, as a solo vocalist, sang Winterreise for the audience
at Hakodate Kyokai (Chapel of Hakodate) in Hokkaido on the 22nd of August in
2000. Incidentally, Mr. Hakone, a native painter of the city, passed away
last year in 1999, leaving his 25 paintings of his impression with the
Schubert's tune as his posthumous work. Nitta, to commemorate the painter's
spirit, will do his best singing.
